between 4-7 is normal, 8.2 a couple of hours after eating is ok, it takes a couple of hours to digest food, do a test before meals, if you are in the normal zone you are fine
Often the first sign of diabetes isn’t high sugars, but lows. Because the body is struggling to regulate, in the early phases of diabetes it can swing wildly up and down. You might not notice the highs, only the lows. That is how it started with my mother. Her sugar would go low and she would have to eat, said she was hypoglycemic.. turns out she was full blown diabetic for years and didn’t know. So first things first.. if you think you have low blood sugar problems and you are only eating a plum and some french fries.. that is a problem There is no protein in there, nothing to hold your sugar stable. An 8.1 reading is certainly not normal for only having consumed what you have stated. You need to take it during the day while eating normally. It really should not exceed 7.8 after 2 hrs following a meal. So you probably are diabetic or pre-diabetic. The 5.0 morning reading is fine though. But you definitely have glucose issues. So here is another possibility. If it is your normal habit to eat like this, your body may be sending out glucose from the liver to try to stabilize you. This could lead to problems down the road.
